ACOs Summit 2014

A Transitional Model to Full Risk Care Management

Conference Details:
This conference will focus on the "next generation" medical management tactic everyone is talking about: Accountable Care Organizations.

The passing of the Healthcare Reform bill has led health plans, physicians and hospitals to seriously re-think the management of the chronically ill, who by 2011 will make up 60% of the Medicare Advantage population. More patients with more complex chronic medical conditions will lead to costly hospital readmissions, enrollment adjudication, risk adjustment, and claims processing.

The Accountable Care Organization is now thought of as a possible, if not controversial solution to this financial problem. Three distinct groups: hospitals, physicians and health plans will come together at this event to collaborate on the ACO.

Our conference will cover:

  • ACO development:
    • Implementation checklists
    • Resources available
    • Competencies required
    • Legal considerations
    • Infrastructure building, including compensation considerations
  • Application process and planning
  • Success stories
  • Physician/hospital/health plan alignment
  • Impact of ACOs on Medicare Advantage
  • Building out the full ACO picture:
    • Pharma spotlight
    • Employer spotlight
    • IT spotlight
    • International ACOs
BONUS: Many development checklists and implementation guides -- take home materials -- will be provided!

From Volume to Value: Navigating The Transition
There can be no doubt that the industry evolution to value-based care has moved beyond the concept stage, and leading health systems are now in the process of setting their transformation strategies.  While the longer-range vision for value based care delivery is relatively clear; it is the period of transition that is so difficult to navigate. For healthcare leaders, there are two central issues:
  • Identifying the appropriate cadence for change that balances clinical transformation with value-based contracting tempered by organizational readiness and market receptivity to the shift; and
  • Maintaining the profitability of the enterprise throughout the course of the transformation.
  • In this session we will share a framework for developing a transformation roadmap that articulates the timing, resources, trade-offs and sensitivities needed to help guide transformation efforts.

Succeeding as an ACO: Key Areas for Assessing Readiness
Accountable care organizations promise to reshape healthcare delivery by improving quality of care while lowering costs. But this will mean fundamental shifts in how most healthcare organizations operate and deliver care.  That makes these questions critical:
  • How should your organization participate in an ACO?
  • Is your organization ready and comfortable with the operational demands of an ACO?
  • With whom should you partner?
  • What are the change management and HR implications?
  • What underlying infrastructure, technology systems and resources will you need?
  • How will you manage the risks?
  • What will be the likely financial impacts?
  •  Join us for a discussion on successful execution of an ACO strategy.

Health care costs associated with obesity now exceed those associated with smoking. This session will review:
